Dear Prospective Government…here’s a list of things we want

“For the first time in history, in this age of unprecedented wealth and technical prowess, we have the power to save humanity from poverty. Let us summon the will to do it.”  Kofi Annan (2002)

We’re just months away from a general election, and all the parties are putting the finishing touches to their election manifestos, important documents that will set out their plans if they form the next government.

But that’s not enough. It’s unacceptable that 1.4 billion people still live on less than $1.25 a day, that 2.5 billion people are unable to access basic sanitation, and many are threatened by catastrophic climate change.

Election manifestos will be completed in the next few weeks, so now is a critical opportunity to remind those writing them that thousands of people are looking to them to take action on Water and Sanitation, HIV and Climate Change.

Whichever party wins the election has the ability to make a huge difference to the world and this is a great base to start from.

Ask the parties to put action for the world’s poorest at the heart of their manifestos!
